Kale Bake

1/2 lb fresh kale (about 1 bunch)
about 2 lb potatoes sliced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 1/2 c grated Swiss cheese
2 green onions, chopped
2 T fresh chives, chopped
1 c mushrooms (optional)
6T cold butter cut into bits
1/2 t salt
pepper to taste
1 1/4 C milk

Preheat oven to 425.
Chop or tear kale into 2 inch pieces. Butter a 10×10 or 9×13 baking dish. Spread half potato slices on bottom of dish. Spread on all the kale, sprinkle on garlic, onions, chives, mushrooms, half the cheese, salt, and pepper. Top with remaining potato slices, cheese, and butter. Pour on milk. Bake 30-40 min. or until potatoes are tender and top is nicely browned.
